War Crimes Watch:

Targeting schools, Russia bombs the future

The AP and PBS Frontline collaborated for a project cataloging and tracking war crimes in Ukraine in 2022. My colleagues and I used open-source intelligence reporting (OSINT) and worked with journalists in Ukraine to build a database. We also wrote a long series of stories about specific instances of war crimes.

My contribution was this investigation into the Russian military’s attacks on schools, and how that has been a tactic in previous conflicts designed to impede a society’s ability to rebuild.
